What a remarkable night for the Democrats—and a huge congratulations to the winners!

First, a hearty congratulations to Zohran Mamdani, newly elected Mayor of New York City. His historic victory as the city’s youngest mayor in over a century, and first Muslim and South Asian mayor, is nothing short of inspiring.

Next, bravo to Mikie Sherrill, who secured the governorship of New Jersey in a decisive win. Her victory speaks volumes about the strength of the Democratic message in the Garden State.

And congratulations to Abigail Spanberger, newly elected Governor of Virginia and the state’s first woman to hold the office. What a milestone!

Beyond these marquee races, tonight also brought good news for Democrats in other key states: in Georgia, Democratic candidates won seats on the Public Service Commission — breaking a long drought in statewide wins. In Pennsylvania, Democrats retained their majority on the state’s highest court via retention elections — a strong signal of momentum. In Ohio, Democratic Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval turned back a challenge by none other than the half brother of Vice President J.D Vance.

Together, these results may very well be predictors for next year’s midterm elections. The pattern of Democratic wins in diverse states — from urban hubs to battlegrounds — suggests expanding appeal and energized turnout. If this momentum continues, the landscape for the midterms could tilt significantly.

Here’s to the newly elected leaders: Zohran Mamdani, Mikie Sherrill, Abigail Spanberger and all the others — your victories matter not just for your jurisdictions but for the broader narrative of our politics. Congratulations!
