What I Will Fight For

In an earlier blog I made a commitment to improve healthcare for the people of Tennessee’s 6th District. My focus is simple; reduce profit driven claims denials and increase access, especially in rural communities; make affordable healthcare a right, not a privilege.
People have been asking me at town halls and community events what the path forward looks like.
Here is where I stand:
First, Congress needs to extend the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits for at least one or two years before they expire on December 31, 2025. Tennesseans who rely on these credits cannot be left hanging while lawmakers argue. We need stability while we explore long term reforms.
Second, there has to be real oversight and accountability for insurance companies that deny claims to boost profits. These practices raise costs for families, delay care, and put people at risk. That has to change.
Third, after more than fifteen years of promising a replacement for the ACA, the GOP still has not delivered even a basic outline of a plan. Expanding Health Savings Accounts or offering tax credits does nothing for lower and middle income families; it does nothing for people with chronic illnesses or disabilities. The idea that individuals should negotiate with insurance companies on their own is unrealistic. Even large employers with thousands of workers struggle to do that.
I will keep following every proposal that comes through Congress. People in TN6 need healthcare that is affordable, accessible, and reliable; they deserve a system that works for them instead of against them. This is the work ahead and I am ready to get it done.
Mike Croley, Congressional Candidate TN6
