What I Saw in Crossville

This past weekend, people from all across the Upper Cumberland came together in Crossville, TN for the No Kings Rally. It wasn’t about shouting or party lines. It was about reminding ourselves who this country belongs to and what kind of future we want to leave behind.
I showed up because I believe in that idea. Government is supposed to work for the people, not the powerful. When leaders treat public office like a crown instead of a responsibility, when they forget that real lives are on the other side of their decisions, we lose something sacred.
I’m running for Congress because I believe in dignity, accountability, and community.Dignity means everyone deserves a fair shot and a voice that’s heard.Accountability means elected officials should answer to the people, not to lobbyists or donors.Community means we look out for one another, even when we don’t agree on everything.
Here in Tennessee’s 6th District, that starts with the basics:
Making sure healthcare is affordable and works for everyone.
Ensuring that hard work earns a living wage and a little breathing room.
Protecting clean water and the land we depend on.
Keeping the promises our country made through Medicare and Social Security.
We can do better. We can lead with respect, with common sense, and with the understanding that every person matters.
I didn’t run for office to pick fights or push fear. I’m running to stand up for the people who feel forgotten. I’m running because I still believe in this place and the people who call it home.
The “No Kings” message isn’t about anger. It’s about remembering that no one is above the law and that democracy only works when we all stand guard over it.
I’m proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with my neighbors who showed up in Crossville this weekend. We’re not giving up on this country.
